Henry Daniel was born in Gloucestershire in 1826. He was an Auctioneer and the Senior partner in the accountancy firm Alexander Daniel & Co. and a director of the Grand Hotel Company. For many year he gave time as hon, treasurer or secretary to a number of charitable institutions and he was president of the Anchor Society in 1886. He lived at 1 Tyndall's Park Road, he served as Sheriff in 1906. 'Bristol Worthies' (1909) said, "here we have a man who, for most of his somewhat long life, has looked at least 20 years younger then his age, and has not yet got out of the habit of doing so". He died on 11th December 1912.
