Richard Jenkins Poole King was born in 1799 "within the sound Redcliffbells". He was a ship owner who lived at Brislington in Kensignton House. He was Mayor of Bristol in 1844 and Master of the Merchant Venturers 1851. He died on 26th September 1874 and his grave in Arnos Vale Cemetery.
His daughter married Francis F. Fox.
