Thomas Lennard was born in Leicester on 4th July 1860. He moved to Bristol in 1897 and Purchased Henbury Court which was a suitable place to display the many 'mementoes' he had collected during his world tour 1886-88. He was leading Liberal and active in the Congregational church. He founded the firm of Lennards Ltd., which had its headquarters in Queens Road and 250 branches all over England & Wales.
