Francis Crispin Luke - 1865 -19xx (Lord Mayor 1933)

 

Francis Luke was born in Southampton in 1865.  He entered the Civil Service in London in 1883 in the G.P.O and became Assistant Surveyor in the Western District of England in 1894.  He worked in Dublin and Edinburgh before being appointed as Chief Post Office Surveyor of Scotland in 1918, of the eastern counties in 1920 and finally Postmaster Surveyor of Bristol and district in 1921.  He retired from the service in 1926 and joined the City Council representing the St Michael Ward.  He became a JP in 1931 and served as Lord Mayor in 1933
