Col. Henry Bourchier Osborne Savile - 1819-1917 (Sheriff 1883)

 

 

 

Henry Bourchier Osborne Savile was born on 5th May 1819.  he was the 3rd son of Albany Savile who was an MP and lived in Devon.  His mother was Eleanor Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Bourchier Wray 6th Bart.  He was sheriff of Bristol in 1883.  He died at the age of 98 on August 17th, 1917.

The picture below shows his family grave at Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol. It reveals that two of his sons were killed in the Great War:-

2nd Lieut. George Keith Savile, 4th Glos. Regt. killed in Flanders June 20th 1915 aged 26 years.

Capt. William Henry Bourchier Savile, Royal Field Artillery, killed in France Aug. 14th 1916 aged 41 years.
